Tacoma Rescue Mission Veterans Sleeping Room
The cornerstone of the program is the ability to quickly triage Veterans in need of shelter allowing for immediate same day housing. PSVHC has partnered with the Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM) setting up “Short Term/Immediate Shelter” at the TRM to support Veterans. PSVHC operates and manages a clean and sober 10 bed sleeping room designated for homeless Veterans in need of immediate shelter.
Homeless Veterans who enter TRM seeking support are screened and referred to the PSVHC program by TRM staff. A PSVHC intake worker conducts an assessment and triages the homeless Veteran based on their specific needs guiding them to available resources.
PSVHC has partnered with the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs and Quixote Communities, a 501c3 nonprofit organization to build a Veterans Village at the Orting Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington.
Eligible Veterans will have the opportunity to apply for long-term stable housing once the Veterans Village is complete in the Summer of 2020.
